History comes to life when you join our Friendly Footman for a special interactive Children’s Tour of the Castle which has been host to knights, royalty and aristocracy through the ages.
Find out what it was like to be knighted and how the Castle was defended from enemy attack. There is so much to learn and plenty to see.
Children’s Tours will run on selected dates throughout July and August. Tours begin at 10:30am in the Coach Yard and are included with a Castle, Park and Gardens ticket.
Tickets should be booked in advance online to guarantee a place on the Tour, or can be purchased on the day assuming there is availability. Both children and adults require Tour tickets.
Children’s Tours are most suitable for ages 5 to 8 and all members of the family are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Number of children per session: 15 (no limit for the number of adult places)
Recommended age: 5 to 8 years old
All children must come supervised by a ticket holding adult who will be responsible for their safety during the Tour. This is a family event suitable for children age 5 to 8 but please bear in mind that the youngest children will require a greater deal of adult assistance. Children younger than 5 and older than 8 are also very welcome at parental discretion.
Cancellations: Please let us know if you are unable to attend although please note we do operate a no refund policy.
Access: Due to the historic nature of the buildings, not all areas as fully accessible so please get in touch if you require further information. There will be a place to leave push chairs/buggies.
