Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in March, Tours begin at 11am
After the success of the Behind the Scenes tours in October, we are delighted to confirm that they are returning in March and some new rooms have been added to the route.
Raby Castle will open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in March for exclusive tours of previously unseen rooms. Join one of our knowledgeable Guides, who will tell fascinating stories of the Castle’s history and provide a rare opportunity to visit areas of the Castle that are not usually accessible to the public.
The ‘Behind the Scenes Tour’ will consist of a slightly shortened version of the normal tour in order to provide visitors with an overview of the Family and Castle. Visitors will then be taken via staff corridors and staircases not normally accessible to the public, to the impressive state bedrooms where Frederick, Prince of Wales stayed when he visited in the 1700’s. After taking in the scale and luxury of the state bedrooms, guests will walk down the Hunter’s Gallery which is decorated in the “strawberry hill gothic” style, popular in the mid 1700’s, viewing the 4 bedrooms off it, each with their own unique features. New for the March Tours; visitors will also be shown the study of the 10th Lord Barnard which has remained untouched since his death in 1964.
Every Behind the Scenes Tour guide has a wealth of knowledge about the Castle and will be happy to answer any questions you might have and will of course furnish you with interesting facts and insights into how life at the Castle would have been. The tour will be approximately 2 hours in length.
Please note that the Castle is closed to the public in March apart from these Tours, so if you wish to visit us then, do book onto one of these tours.
Tickets £25.00 per person
Places are limited each day so booking is essential.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Certain areas of the Castle are only accessed via narrow staircases so unfortunately these areas are not accessible to wheelchair users.
