Discover Raby Castle at sunset in our summer evening ‘Behind the Scenes Tours’. Enjoy a free glass of fizz on arrival in the Grand Entrance Hall and join one of our knowledgeable guides who will take you via staff corridors and staircases not normally accessible to the public.
The ‘Behind the Scenes Tour’ will consist of a slightly shortened version of the normal tour in order to provide visitors with an overview of the Family and Castle. Visitors will be taken to see the impressive state bedrooms where Frederick, Prince of Wales stayed when he visited in the 1700s, and after taking in the scale and luxury of the state bedrooms, guests will walk down the Hunter’s Gallery. This is decorated in the “strawberry hill gothic” style, popular in the mid 1700s and you will view the 4 bedrooms leading from it, each with their own unique features. Visitors will also be shown the study of the 10th Lord Barnard which has remained untouched since his death in 1964.
Your guide will be happy to answer any questions you might have and will of course furnish you with interesting facts and insights into how life at the Castle would have been. The evening starts at 7pm and the tour will be approximately 1.5 hours in length.
Tickets £25.00 per person (adults only)
Places are limited so booking is essential.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Certain areas of the Castle are only accessed via narrow staircases so unfortunately these areas are not accessible to wheelchair users.
