Theatre in the Walled Gardens – Mr Stink
Saturday 28th August 2021
AGE 7+ | RUNNING TIME: 2 HOURS
You’re invited to celebrate Annabelle’s 10th birthday, hosted by everyone’s favourite MP candidate, Janet Crumb! (Almost) everyone is welcome… that is, everyone apart from Chloe’s particularly smelly new friend, Mr Stink.
One perfectly normal afternoon in an average English town two restless souls unite on a park bench – one of them the lonely 12 year old Chloe Crumb and the other an incredibly smelly homeless man. Oh, and let’s not forget his loyal dog, the Duchess. Chloe’s curiosity and kindness pave the way for this extraordinary and rewarding friendship that takes them to the heady heights of live television and Downing Street via a garden shed.
Join Heartbreak Productions for David Walliams’ best-seller Mr Stink on the outdoor stage. Pack a picnic, grab a chair and dress for the weather. Packed with fun, humour and a heart-warming message, this touching tale provides the perfect family entertainment

This performance will take place in the open-air in our 18th century Walled Gardens at Raby Castle. Our gardens are accessible, but please get in touch if you require assistance. Normally our gardens are dog-friendly, but for this event we kindly ask that they are left at home, with the exception of guide dogs.
The production will still go ahead in rainy conditions so please note tickets are non-refundable. So dress for the weather and remember to bring a low-backed chair, rug or cushion to sit on.
What time can I arrive?
The event starts at 6.30pm, but guests can arrive anytime after 5.30pm. At the end of the show please pack your belongings and our friendly team will direct you to the exit. Please help us by taking your rubbish home with you.
Can I bring my own food & drink?
You are welcome to bring your own picnic to enjoy during the event, but we ask that you please do not bring any glass into the venue. Drinks, snacks and refreshments will be available (including ice cream) on the night.
What you’ll need to bring
We are hoping for glorious weather for our outdoor theatre. If it’s sunny (which we hope it will be!) you may wish to bring water, sunglasses, sun cream and a hat. If it’s wet – waterproof clothing and the Great British spirit will be required! Please bear in mind that it can turn colder in the evenings so remember to bring warm clothing and blankets with you. We also recommend bringing a torch with you to use when you leave.
You are welcome to bring picnic blankets and camping chairs – please be aware that guests with camping chairs may be asked to sit further back so as not to block the view of any guests sitting on the floor. We are not able to provide any seats for our screenings.
We ask that you please do not bring the following:
- Pop up structures
- Candles or naked flames
- Gas burners
- Portable heaters
