There are some beautiful walks around the Deer Park at Raby Castle.<\/h2>\n

Maps and walking routes are available from our admissions team. Follow our recommended walks below or make your own way with open access to our 200 acres.<\/p>\n

Organised group walks take place throughout the year and are a fantastic way to see some areas of the Park which visitors cannot usually access. Find out more HERE<\/a><\/p>\n

Dogs love to walk at Raby but must be kept on a lead to protect our deer.<\/p>\n

Suggested Walking Routes<\/h3>\n

<\/h4>\n

Red Walking Route<\/strong>
\nLength: 1.8km
\nTime: Approximately 20 minutes<\/h4>\n

If you’re short on time, our popular red circular route offers the best of everything. From incredible views of our medieval castle to an abundance of wildlife to watch on High and Low Pond. If you’re lucky, you might even spy our Longhorn Cattle and herds of red and fallow deer.<\/p>\n

Purple Walking Route<\/strong>
\nLength: 2.3km
\nTime: Approximately 35 minutes<\/h4>\n

If you\u2019ve got more time, our purple walking route offers a new area of the Deer Park which visitors can explore. Showcasing a number of historic structures along the way, enjoy elevated views of the ponds as you look out for our herds or red and fallow deer.<\/p>\n

Blue Walking Route<\/strong>
\nLength: 2.7km
\nTime: Approximately 45 minutes<\/h4>\n

If you\u2019re planning a full day out at Raby, our blue walk is the longest circular route. Largely on hard tracks which would be ideal for cycling, the walk takes visitors south of the park, within views of our South Gate Lodge in the village of Staindrop. Our Deer can often be found in this part of the Park. From here you can either walk back along the same path, or cut back across to the castle.<\/p>\n

Users can discover walking routes around the Deer Park via an interactive map, create their own bespoke tour of the Castle grounds by filtering different points of interest including wildlife, historical developments and land management practices, and can also locate nearby facilities including food outlets, car parking and toilets.<\/p>\n
