The Wrekin and surrounding sites are fantastic locations for stargazers to take in the dark skies above.<\/p>\n

They are designated by UK Dark Sky Discovery partnership<\/a>, which includes the Science and Technology Facilities Council, the Royal Astronomical Society<\/a> and the Institute of Physics<\/a> among its members.<\/p>\n

Dark Sky Discovery Sites must meet basic standards. Typically this means being at least 100 square metres in size \u2013large enough to accommodate 30 stargazers, with good public access, and firm ground for wheelchairs.<\/p>\n\r\n

Dark Skies equipment<\/h3>\n

The Wrekin<\/a> has the darkest Milky Way Class rating, meaning that the night skies are dark enough to see it via the naked eye. You don\u2019t need any special equipment \u2013 but binoculars and telescopes certainly enhance the experience.<\/p>\n
