The Raby Rising development project is the most ambitious construction project Raby Castle Park & Gardens has embarked on in decades. It will see the restoration and refurbishment of many listed historic buildings as well as severalnew0build structures. We are looking for two hardworking and dedicated labourers to join our construction team, who are passionate about working in this remarkable setting. You will be required to assist various trades and undertake a variety of tasks across a wide selection of existing buildings as well as some new iconic additions.
What you’ll be doing
The successful candidates will undertake labouring work to the highest standard as required, working as part of the directly employed Raby construction team on ‘The Rising’, carrying out work on both new build and refurbishment projects.

What we need to see
This is an exciting position, and the successful candidates for the position of labourer, will have excellent communication skills, a good eye for detail, and be willing & flexible to undertake all challenges expected on a fast-paced multi discipline construction site.
Ideally candidates should hold a relevant Construction Skills Competence Scheme (CSCS) card. Previous experience of working on historic listed buildings is advantageous.
The positions are offered on a permanent basis and provide a rare opportunity to work on a wide variety of historic listed buildings as well as some new build additions.
Overview of Raby Estates
Raby Castle near Staindrop has been the home of the Vane family for generations and is open to visitors. Lord and Lady Barnard seek to develop the Castle and grounds so that it becomes one of the foremost visitor attractions in the North.
The Raby Estate comprises substantial landholdings and trading operations including in-house farms, let farms and residential property, along with sporting enterprises across Estates in Co Durham and Shropshire. We also have visitor attractions at Raby Castle, High Force Hotel and Waterfall in Upper Teesdale and The Wrekin in Shropshire.
As well as the Estate’s own Home Farm in Raby Park, there are many tenanted farms and a large number of houses and cottages in villages around Teesdale, many are whitewashed farmsteads and houses where families have been tenants for several generations.
