Throughout November, we will be hosting weekly walks with different members of our diverse and incredible team.
Raby Castle is lucky enough to have our very own in-house archivist, Joseph. Joe is forever finding Raby’s best-kept secrets and historic objects. This week, Joe will be taking visitors on an illustrated walk looking at the early Georgian Castle, ponds and pleasure grounds, and how their development has shaped the Raby landscape we see today. You will circle the Castle and ponds, looking at 18th-century landscape pictures, maps, and other records, exploring who was behind all the changes during the early Georgian period, what they chose to change and why.
