Three-Day Introduction to Sustainable Floristry
Join Deborah Boston from Periwinkle Barn for a relaxed and inspiring three-day retreat at the beautiful Raby Castle, Park and Gardens. Set against the backdrop of historic parkland, walled gardens and the tranquil County Durham countryside, this hands-on retreat is designed for anyone who would like to build confidence with flowers, explore seasonal British stems and learn the foundations of foam free, sustainable floristry.
Across the three days, Deborah will guide you through the essentials of working with flowers, from selecting and conditioning stems to understanding colour, shape, texture and natural movement. With her experience and passion for British-grown flowers, Deborah will share practical techniques, creative guidance and gentle encouragement, helping each participant develop their own floral style in a welcoming and supportive setting.
The retreat is ideal for beginners, flower lovers and anyone looking to slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy the creative process. Each day includes time for demonstration, hands-on making and conversation, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and take inspiration from the gardens and surroundings at Raby Castle.
At the end of this retreat, you will walk away with a beautiful hand-tied bouquet, bowl arrangement, meadow box, vase/urn arrangement and the experience of working on a much bigger flower installation. Whether you want to improve your skills for home arranging or pursue a career in floristry this course will give you the foundations of sustainable floristry practice.
Lunch and refreshments are included throughout the retreat, making this a full experience where guests can learn, create and enjoy time together in a beautiful setting. You’ll also receive your own pair of snips, a periwinkle apron, a notebook, pen and a certificate on completion.
