Celebrate the beauty of nature this bank holiday

Launching this May Bank holiday weekend, from Saturday 2nd May, be the first to see the Castle in Bloom installation, which will see several rooms in County Durham’s Raby Castle transformed with breathtaking floral arrangements inspired by nature. This celebration of colour, creativity, and seasonal splendour will see visitors discovering a series of exquisite floral installations throughout the historic interior, including two showcase features designed by renowned florist Anna Potter from Swallows and Damsons. 

Stone-baked pizzas will be available to enjoy on the Vinery Terrace and iconic arched Dutch Barn from the Potting Shed close by to the Round House and , along with refreshing drinks and delicious seasonal dishes in the glasshouse Vinery.

Children can get creative with complementary May Day floral crafts and flower crowns in the Yurt before letting off steam in The Plotters’ Forest adventure playground.

We have a range of unique workshops throughout the weekend to suit all interests.

Enjoy wellness classes, including Tai Chi Qigong and Yoga at dawn set against the peaceful backdrop of Raby Castle’s grounds.

Step into a centuries‑old spring tradition with our special “Bringing in the May” garden masterclass with Raby Castle’s Assistant Head Gardener. Rooted in tradition, this relaxed session celebrates the ancient practice of welcoming summer by gathering fresh greenery, flowers and foliage to mark the turning of the season.

Join us for a special Raby Through The Lens, a relaxed and welcoming photography social led by Chris Parkinson, with years of experience capturing the beauty of nature and telling stories through his images, Chris brings a relaxed, approachable style to the sessions. No experience needed – just bring your camera (or phone) & your curiosity.
