As part of the development of the Raby Estates visitor experience, we are looking for an enthusiastic, outgoing individual, with great customer service skills to join our catering team as a Cook. This is an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, flexible individual to join the team on a casual basis working at Raby Castle and with the opportunity to work flexibly at other Raby locations including the High Force hotel.
Overview of Raby Estates…
Raby Castle near Staindrop has been the home of the Vane family for generations and is open to visitors. Lord and Lady Barnard seek to develop the Castle and grounds to ensure it becomes one of the foremost visitor attractions in the North of England.
The Raby Estate comprises substantial landholdings and trading operations include in-house farms, let farms and residential property, and sporting enterprises across Estates in Co Durham and Shropshire. We also have visitor attractions at Raby Castle, High Force Hotel and Waterfall in Upper Teesdale and The Wrekin in Shropshire.
What you’ll be doing…
As Cook, you will be working with our Estate Chef to assist in the preparation of food to the highest standard, adhering strictly to food safety management procedures.
You will deliver outstanding customer service, providing an unforgettable visitor experience creating loyal, return visitors to Raby Estates.
You will liaise with food and beverage staff as well as retail staff, other managers, and employees from across the organisation.
What we are looking for…
We’re looking for someone with excellent customer service skills as well as very good understanding and knowledge of Food Standards Agency legislation and best practice guidance. Food Hygiene Level 2 and some previous experience would be an advantage.
You need to have a flexible approach to duties, work well within a team and independently, be organised and an effective communicator. We’re looking for someone who can show honesty, integrity, enthusiasm and capacity for hard work. This list is not exhaustive, and you will be required to carry out any other reasonable tasks arising from time to time.
Working hours will include weekends, bank holidays and school holidays so we are looking for flexible and reliable people.
