Purpose of Job
To deliver consistently excellent customer service at High Force Hotel & Waterfall, helping both new and returning guests feel welcome, well looked after and keen to visit again. Based predominantly at High Force Hotel, the General Assistant plays an important part in the day-to-day operation of our busy bar, restaurant and reception, as well as supporting our distinctive experience-led events.
This is a varied and interesting role for someone who enjoys meeting people, takes pride in thoughtful service and likes being part of a close-knit team. From welcoming overnight guests and serving breakfast or dinner to supporting stargazing and dark skies themed nights, the role offers the opportunity to contribute to memorable experiences in a distinctive setting. As a small team, we work together across all areas of the business, with a shared commitment to providing warm, attentive and consistently excellent service.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Welcoming and looking after hotel guests and visitors
- Supporting reception duties, reservations and guest enquiries
- Serving food and drinks in the bar and restaurant
- Assistant with breakfast and dinner service
- Support stargazing events, Dark Skies experiences and seasonal events
- Selling tickets and refreshments at High Force Waterfall when required
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across different areas of the business
- Providing outstanding customer service at all times
Knowledge/Experience:
Applicants should demonstrate a keen interest in customer service, a willingness to learn and a commitment to delivering excellent service consistently. No specific previous experience requirement is stipulated.

- Reliability, pride in work and a cooperative attitude.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays is a strong advantage, as these are among the busiest periods.
