As part of an exciting programme of refurbishment, restoration and ongoing maintenance works, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Painter & Decorator (Multi Skilled) to join our dedicated Estate Maintenance Team.

Role Overview

This role plays a key part in supporting the delivery of high-quality decorating and maintenance works across the Estate.

The successful candidate will predominantly undertake painting and decorating works throughout a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, agricultural and heritage buildings. In addition, they will utilise broader trade skills to assist with property repairs and refurbishment projects.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Painting & Decorating 

  • Undertake internal and external painting and decorating works across domestic, commercial and heritage buildings.
  • Prepare surfaces using traditional and modern methods to achieve high-quality finishes.
  • Carry out filling, sanding, preparation and finishing works to a consistently high standard.
  • Apply a range of paints, stains, varnishes and specialist coatings as required.
  • Diagnose decorating defects and carry out or recommend appropriate remedial works.
  • Work on both modern and traditional properties, including listed and heritage buildings.

Multi-Skilled Maintenance and Building Works (depending on background)

  • General building maintenance works
  • Damp-proofing works
  • Plastering works
  • General labouring
  • Property refurbishment works
  • Reactive maintenance works

General Responsibilities 

  • Deliver high-quality workmanship across all tasks undertaken.
  • Plan and manage your own workload effectively, including ordering materials and organising work schedules.
  • Deliver high-quality workmanship across all tasks undertaken.
  • Complete work with minimal supervision where appropriate.
  • Identify defects, additional work requirements and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades and departments across the Estate.
  • Ensure all works comply with health and safety legislation and Estate standards.
  • Maintain compliance across all Estate sites.
  • Work independently or as part of a wider team as required.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in painting and decorating on domestic and commercial properties.
  • NVQ qualification or equivalent in the building sector.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety and ability to lead by example.
  • High attention to detail with pride in producing quality work.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Honest, reliable, and flexible with a positive, can-do attitude.

Desirable

  • NVQ or equivalent qualification of level 2 or above.
  • Minimum 5 years’ wider construction or property maintenance experience.
  • Experience working with traditional and heritage buildings.
  • Additional trade skills including joinery, tiling, plumbing, roofing or plastering.
