Raby Castle sits in a beautiful parkland setting close to the town of Staindrop, County Durham.

Renowned for its fascinating history and heritage, the Castle attracts many visitors every year. The Castle is open seasonally and offers exclusive tours, alongside this visitors can enjoy the 200 acre Deer Park, Yurt Cafe and Shop. There is an extensive programme of events at the Castle throughout the year, including our popular Fireside Stories with Father Christmas, summer open air theatre and seasonal shopping markets.

High Force

In the glorious scenery of Upper Teesdale you will find High Force Hotel and Waterfall.

High Force is one of the most impressive waterfalls in England and the largest in terms of volume of water that cascades down the 21m cliff edge. Raby Estates operate the waterfall attraction, with a well-maintained circular woodland route. The High Force Hotel, adjacent to the waterfall walk is the perfect rural retreat with individually designed ensuite guest bedrooms, combining country charm with fresh modern facilities.

The Wrekin

The Wrekin is a beautiful, dominant feature of the Shropshire landscape, a huge hill popular with walkers who gain access delightful woodland routes on public rights of way or permissive footpaths. Rising to a height of 407 metres, the Wrekin offers striking views of the beautiful Shropshire countryside.

Special Site of Scientific Interest

The Wrekin is a special place, designated as a Special Site of Scientific Interest and is part of the Shropshire Hills AONB.

Looking ahead

Raby is supported by a wonderful team of staff and volunteers who welcome visitors to our attractions.

Lord and Lady Barnard are committed to developing tourism in all locations and there are lots of exciting plans in progress to develop access and facilities. The Rising Development at Raby Castle, due to take place over 2021-23 will see a repurposing of historic venues at the site, alongside a new Visitor Centre, Vinery Cafe and bespoke children’s play area.
