Raby Castle, Park and Gardens is open 7 days a week with guided tours on Mondays and Tuesdays and both free flow and guided tours available Wednesday to Sunday. The Castle is open March until 2nd November 2025.
Raby Castle, Deer Park and Gardens is a landmark location in County Durham. Visit one of the most impressive intact castles in the North of England, with a powerful exterior and superb collections. The castle is steeped in history, built by the powerful Nevilles in the 14th century, it has been the family home of the Vanes for nearly 400 years.
Spend your days out, exploring the picturesque Deer Park, with 200 acres to discover and a range of wildlife on our doorstep, there is plenty to see and do across Raby Park. Discover our walking routes and meet our herds of red and fallow deer.
The 18th century Walled Garden has been recently remodelled by renowned garden designer Luciano Giubbilei with Lady Barnard. Together, they have laboured to create a stunning 5-acre vision, including the estate’s well-known yew hedges and the iconic Raby fig. Beautifully framed views and an unrivalled air of tranquillity have put Raby on the map of notable English gardens, and will delight horticultural novices and enthusiasts alike.

- Showcasing Raby Estate’s rich past, the Coach House will house a free-to-enter exhibition, giving visitors a taste of what is to come when venturing into the historic castle, surrounding parklands and wider areas of the Estate. The centrepiece of this exciting exhibition will be an audio-visual projection onto a bespoke carved oak eight metre table. The projection will showcase the unique Teesdale landscape, part of the wider Estate, and highlight iconic landmarks such as High Force Waterfall, as well as the sights and sounds of the local area and wildlife
