The castle is steeped in history, built by the powerful Nevilles in the 14th century, it has been the family home of the Vanes for nearly 400 years.

The 18th century Walled Garden has been recently remodelled by renowned garden designer Luciano Giubbilei with Lady Barnard. Together, they have laboured to create a stunning 5-acre vision, including the estate’s well-known yew hedges and the iconic Raby fig. Beautifully framed views and an unrivalled air of tranquillity have put Raby on the map of notable English gardens, and will delight horticultural novices and enthusiasts alike.
The Castle will be open for the 2024 season between 1st March to 3rd November. During March, April, May, June, September and October the Castle will be open Wednesday –Sunday between 11am – 4pm. During July and August, the Castle will be open between Tuesday – Sunday 11am – 4pm. The Deer Park is open daily, 10am – 4pm. The Plotters’ Forest is open on weekends and holiday periods.
